Terms and Conditions

Effective date: 29 August 2025

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using this website, booking an appointment, or engaging with Gather Psychology (“we”, “our”, or “us”), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, you must not use this website or our services.

2. Services

Gather Psychology provides psychological therapy, counselling, assessments, and related mental health services. Services are delivered either in person, via telehealth (video conferencing or phone), or other secure platforms as agreed. Services are intended for individuals seeking mental health support within Australia.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to engage services directly. Clients under 18 require the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian. By booking or attending services, you confirm you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

4. Confidentiality

All information shared during therapy sessions is treated as confidential in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles and professional ethical guidelines. Confidential information will not be disclosed to third parties without your consent, except in circumstances where:

  • There is a risk of harm to yourself or others;

  • There is suspicion of child abuse, neglect, or abuse of vulnerable adults;

  • Disclosure is required by law (e.g. court orders, mandatory reporting).

5. Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy for details on how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

6. Use of Online Platforms

When accessing telehealth sessions, you agree to use a secure, private, and distraction-free environment. Gather Psychology is not responsible for any confidentiality breaches or technical issues that occur due to your internet connection, devices, or environment. You are also subject to the telehealth platform provider’s terms and conditions.

7. Limitations of Online Therapy

Telehealth is effective for many people, but it may not be suitable in all circumstances, particularly in cases of acute mental health crises or emergencies requiring immediate, in-person care. If you are experiencing a crisis, please call 000 or contact Lifeline on 13 11 14.

8. Appointments, Cancellations, and Refunds

  • We require at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment.

  • Late cancellations (less than 24 hours’ notice) or non-attendance may incur the full session fee.

  • Refunds for pre-paid sessions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

9. Payment Terms

Payment is due at the time of booking or immediately following each session, unless otherwise agreed. Accepted payment methods include EFTPOS, bank transfer, or other arrangements advised at the time of booking. Failure to make timely payment may result in suspension of services until fees are settled.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

Services are provided on an “as is” basis without warranties, express or implied. While we are committed to delivering professional care, we make no guarantees regarding specific outcomes or results. Individual experiences and progress will vary.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Gather Psychology and its practitioners are not liable for any loss, damage, or costs (including indirect or consequential loss) arising from your use of this website, telehealth platforms, or participation in our services. Nothing in these terms excludes any guarantees, rights, or remedies you may have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.
